Previous experience using - or owning - a different brand faceting machine is sufficient. Prior faceting experience isn’t essential for training on the V5 Machine but is needed in order to use the Fantasy Machine. We offer a 5 to 6-day course on either machine, or 10 days for both. We present all the major gemstone materials and talk about the special polishing needs of each, including an extensive section on emeralds. The course includes cutting from rough as well as recutting and repairing. Aside from teaching the foundational cutting skills on a handpiece-style machine, we walk students through all the steps of gemstone cutting, from the beginning lessons to the most advanced skills.
